Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
